Dan Haren is scheduled to make the start against Kyle Snyder in the three-game series finale against the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Haren is 0-4 with a 5.36 ERA over his past seven starts and hasn't won since June 14. The stretch ties the longest of his career, established from April 23 to May 26, 2005.
The right-hander has the ninth lowest ERA in the American League, but his six wins are nowhere near the top. He will pitch on four days rest. He's 3-5 with a 2.89 ERA when starting on four days rest.
Haren is 2-3 at home this season in 10 starts and will look for his first career victory against the Red Sox.
BOS: RHP Kyle Snyder (2-1, 7.02 ERA)
OAK: RHP Dan Haren (6-9, 4.02) ERA
Haren took the loss Friday following a pair of three-run innings by Detroit. The right-hander is 0-3 against Boston with a 4.60 ERA.
The right-hander was strong in his last start, pitching five innings in a win over the Mariners and surrendering two runs, both of which were unearned. Snyder has yet to pitch more than five innings in a game this season. He left that start in Seattle with a muscle cramp in his right calf, but it was nothing serious. Snyder is going after his fifth career win.
Player to watch
Jay Payton has 13 RBIs since June 13 that have either tied the game or put the A's ahead. Payton is batting .329 over his past 36 games and is hitting .284 against right-handers.
