SEATTLE -- The A's recalled rookie Dan Straily from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday to fill the open rotation spot of injured starter Brandon McCarthy's. Manager Bob Melvin said Straily, who was scheduled to start for Sacramento on Friday, will get the nod on Tuesday.
It is the second time this season the A's second-ranked prospect has been with the big league club. Straily was 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA in three starts in August during his first-career callup.
In 25 games with Sacramento and Double-A Midland, Straily is 9-7 with a 2.78 ERA and a Minor League best 190 strikeouts.
"I think he's been through all the firsts and knows what it's all about here," Melvin said. "Again, we're not afraid to throw some young pitchers out there. We got a lot of young starters in our rotation right now and he will just add to that mix."
