A’s Trade Brandon Hicks to the Mets for Cash Considerations

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland A’s traded infielder Brandon Hicks to the New York Mets for cash considerations, the club announced today.

Hicks was claimed off waivers by Oakland from Atlanta March 13 and spent most of the season at Triple-A Sacramento where he batted .244 with 18 home runs and 61 RBI in 90 games.  He also had two stints with the A’s, hitting .172 with three home runs and seven RBI in 22 games.  The 27-year-old right-handed hitter also had five doubles and eight of his 11 hits were for extra bases.  Hicks started 18 games, including 16 at shortstop, one at second base and one at first base.  He was designated for assignment November 20.
