Weeks will play in Minors before rejoining A's

PEORIA, Ariz. -- Don't expect to see Jemile Weeks back in a game until at least Thursday.

A big league game, that is. Weeks, nursing a bruised right shoulder back to health, played five innings in a Minor League game Monday and is scheduled to do so again Wednesday after resting Tuesday.

That means Weeks will not be return to the A's lineup until Thursday or Friday, if all continues to go well, making it two weeks since the second baseman has played in a Cactus League game.

Weeks has picked up only 11 at-bats spanning four games this spring, seemingly putting him behind in the second-base competition next to fellow top contenders Scott Sizemore and Jed Lowrie.

On Monday, Weeks had no balls hit to him in five innings. He flied out to center twice, walked once and grounded out to first.
