PHOENIX -- Outfielder Chris Young hit a grand slam to aid Oakland's big offensive efforts in a 9-7 victory over the Brewers at Phoenix Municipal Stadium on Monday.

Young's fourth-inning homer came off Milwaukee lefty Chris Narveson, who was tagged for six runs on eight hits with five walks in just 3 2/3 innings. He struck out two.

Scott Sizemore was responsible for the A's first run of the day in the second courtesy of an RBI base hit, and the second-base candidate tacked on three more hits and another RBI to up his Cactus League average to .244.

Third baseman Josh Donaldson tallied four hits for the A's, who got a strong effort on the mound from Bartolo Colon. The right-handed starter gave up three runs on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts in five innings before handing the ball to Dan Straily, who will hold Colon's spot in the rotation while he serves the final five games of his drug suspension.

Colon did not allow a hit until the third inning, and it was not until the fourth when the Brewers reached the board on four consecutive one-out hits from Aramis Ramirez, Alex Gonzalez, Logan Schafer and Khris Davis. Schafer stole home for the Brewers' third run of the inning.

Up next: Before making his first career Opening Day start, lefty Brett Anderson gets one final tune-up Tuesday, when he is scheduled to face the host Indians at Goodyear Ballpark. Right-hander Zach McAllister will go for the Indians, with first pitch set for 1:05 p.m. PT.
