Fighter Cormier tosses first pitch before A's game

OAKLAND -- UFC heavyweight title contender Daniel Cormier donned an A's jersey and threw out the first pitch before Saturday's final exhibition game of the season.

Cormier (11-0) works out at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, where he has lived since 2010. He'll be fighting former UFC champion Frank Mir on April 20 in San Jose.

"I grew up in Louisiana so there it was either the Astros or Braves," Cormier said. "Being in San Jose, I'm more in tune with Oakland and San Francisco. I love the Bay Area."

The two-time Olympic wrestler was a little out of the strike zone but threw it well enough for Jerry Blevins to easily catch.
