OAKLAND -- A's infielder Scott Sizemore will undergo surgery on Tuesday in Florida and will miss his second consecutive season with a torn ligament (ACL) in his left knee.

"My stomach dropped when I saw him walk off the field," teammate Adam Rosales said. "It's the same knee. My heart goes out to him."

Sizemore is scheduled to fly to Pensacola on Sunday, confer with Dr. James Andrews on Monday and undergo surgery on Tuesday.

"Size is strong and a competitor," Rosales said. "He'll do his best to go through what he did last year. Nobody wants to experience that."

Former A's catcher Landon Powell also sustained the same injury twice in a short span.

"It doesn't happen a lot, but we do have some history with it," A's head trainer Nick Paparesta said.
