Celebration of 40thAnniversary of 1973 World Series Title: The Athletics will celebrate the 40thanniversary of the club's 1973 World Series title-the second of three consecutive World Championships-Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 vs. Baltimore. The two-day celebration will feature appearances by players from the 1973 team, including '73 World Series Most Valuable Player and Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson, Hall of Famer Rollie Fingers, former Cy Young Award winner and American League MVP Vida Blue, All-StarsSal Bando, Bert Campaneris, Ray Fosse, Ken Holtzman, Darold Knowles, John "Blue Moon" Odom, Joe Rudi andGene Tenace, in addition to Pat Bourque, Billy Conigliaro,Dick Green, Ted Kubiak and Billy North, coaches Irv Noren and Wes Stock and former broadcasterMonte Moore.

1973 Team Autograph Session: On Friday, April 26, there will be special '73 autograph sessions in the Bar & Grille (formerly called the Westside Club) with various members of the team, with proceeds benefitting the Jim "Catfish" Hunter ALS Foundation. A limited number of tickets priced at $20 will go on sale at 5:35 p.m. outside the Bar & Grille doors, near Section 217, with the autograph session beginning at6:15 p.m.

1973 Hall of Fame Autograph Session: On Saturday, April 27, therewill be an exclusive Hall of Fame autograph session with Rollie Fingers and Reggie Jackson prior to the game. Autograph tickets are $50 per session with each session lasting 20 minutes and featuring one player. A limited number of tickets will go on sale outside the Bar & Grille doors at 11:05 a.m. with proceeds benefitting the Jim "Catfish" Hunter ALS Foundation.

1972 World Series Team Reunion: The celebration continues with a special pre-game on-field reunion honoring the members of this historical 1973 team beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27. Ten thousand fans in attendance will receive a Reggie Jackson bobblehead, sponsored by Pepsi, and Jackson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch of the game.

A's Post-Game Radio Show Live Remote: The A's post-game radio show, carried on 95.7 The GAME, will broadcast live on location from the Holiday Inn Oakland Airport Diamond Sports Bar and Grill (77 Hegenberger Rd.) Saturday, April 27. Fans are invited to join host Guy Haberman and infielder Jed Lowrie after the A's vs. Orioles 1:05 p.m. game for the show, food and beverage specials, and a chance to win prizes.

 

Community Relations

A's Little League Day:  On Sunday, April 28, members of organized youth baseball and softball programs are invited to the ballpark for a day with the A's. Little Leaguers will gather for a pre-game festival, be greeted by A's players as they parade around the field and receive A's kids wristbands, courtesy of Chevrolet. Prior to the event, groups that purchased 100 or more tickets to A's Little League Day will take part in a special "Chalk Talk" with former MLB player Gregg Jefferies. Tossing out the ceremonial first pitch of the game is John Perry, a Little League coach from Santa Rosa set to coach his 1,000thgame and a recent winner of the Jefferson Award for community service. There is an additional A's Little League Day scheduled for Sunday, June 2, and tickets are available online at www.oaklandathletics.com/littleleague.

A's Home Run Reader Visit: A's pitcherPat Neshek will visit with 50 fourth graders at the Hoover Elementary in Oakland (890 Brockhurst St.) on behalf of the A's Home Run Readers Program at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 26. The player will congratulate students who reached their reading goals, host a Q/A session, sign autographs for correct trivia answers and invite the students to the O.co Coliseum for Home Run Readers Day.

A's Amigos Program:  Prior to the game April 26, an A's player will speak to a group of children about the importance of education, sportsmanship and hard work as a part of the A's Amigos Program. In addition to the pre-game visit, each child will receive a game ticket and an A's hat, courtesy of Kelly-Moore Paints and XFINITY.

"Step Up to the Plate for Education" Program Field Visit: On Monday, April 29, an A's playerwill meet with the Arroyo High School baseball team on the field after A's batting practice and congratulate the students for selling the most tickets, and in turn, raising the most money by a school this year as a part of the A's "Step Up to the Plate for Education" fundraising program. Through this program, schools can sell A's tickets for designated 2013 games and the A's will donate up to 50 percent of the ticket sales directly back to the schools. In 2013, more than $70,000 has been dispersed to Bay Area schools to support various programs such as athletics, music, and art, to name a few. Since the program's inception in 2004, more than $600,000 has been raised for throughout school districts in Northern California. Contra Costa Wind Symphony:  A's public address announcer Dick Callahan will narrate the tale of "Casey at the Bat" along with the wind symphony musicians at the Contra Costa Wind Symphony's "Tales and Legends: Baseball, Brubeck, and Brazzissimo" set for Friday, May 3 at 8 p.m. For more information, please visit www.ccwindsymphony.org.
