The Oakland A's recalled right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner from Triple-A Sacramento and optioned right-handed pitcher Dan Straily to Sacramento, the club announced today.
Scribner was on the A's Opening Day roster and compiled a 4.26 ERA and .224 opponents batting average in eight relief appearances before he was optioned to Sacramento April 20. He allowed just two runs over his first seven games before surrendering four runs in 3.0 innings in his final outing April 19 at Tampa Bay. Scribner appeared in two games with the River Cats following his option and was 1-0 with an 8.10 ERA and .286 opponents batting average.
Straily was recalled from Sacramento yesterday and started against the Angels last night, allowing six runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings. He was on the A's Opening Day roster and started the fifth game of the season, an 8-3 victory at Houston April 5. Straily was optioned to Sacramento the next day when Bartolo Colón was reinstated from the suspended list. He is 1-0 with a 6.35 ERA in two starts with the A's this year.
