A's option RHP Sonny Gray to Sacramento


OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A's optioned right-handed pitcher Sonny Gray to Triple-A Sacramento, the club announced tonight following the game.

Gray was selected from Sacramento July 10 and made his Major League debut that night at Pittsburgh, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings while striking out three. He also tossed 2.0 scoreless innings and fanned three against the Angels tonight in his second outing. Gray was 8-5 with a Pacific Coast League leading 2.81 ERA in 16 starts with the River Cats at the time of his promotion. The 23-year old also led the PCL in strikeouts (107), was tied for second in wins and ranked fifth in innings pitched (102.1).
