Texas Claims A's INF Adam Rosales

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland Athletics announced today that the Texas Rangers have claimed infielder Adam Rosales, who was designated for assignment by the A's Saturday.  

Rosales, who has played parts of four seasons with Oakland (2010-13), has been designated for assignment four times in the past 13 days, twice by both the A's and Rangers. He was originally designated for assignment by the A's July 31. Texas claimed him Aug. 2 but after seeing no playing time with the Rangers, he was again designated for assignment Aug. 5. The A's claimed him off waivers Thursday but he was designated for assignment again Saturday.

The 30-year-old utility infielder has hit .191 (26 for 136) with five doubles, four home runs and eight RBI in 51 games during his three stints with the A's this season. He is a .220 career hitter, with 29 doubles, three triples, 19 home runs and 76 RBI in 302 Major League games. Rosales started his career with Cincinnati in 2008-09 before being traded to Oakland with outfielder WillyTaveras for infielder Aarons Miles and cash on Feb. 1, 2010.
