A's IF Scott Sizemore elects free agency

|

OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland Athletics announced today that infielder Scott Sizemore has cleared waivers and elected free agency. The A's 40-man roster currently stands at 38 players.

Sizemore was 1 for 6 with a double in two games with the A's before he was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 10 with a sprained left knee. An MRI revealed a torn left anterior cruciate ligament and he underwent successful ACL revision surgery April 16. He was transferred to the 60-day disabled list April 22. It was Sizemore's second career stint on the disabled list as he also missed the entire 2012 season after tearing the ACL in his left knee in the team's first full-squad workout Feb. 27 in Phoenix.
