Oakland brings rotation depth to annual Meetings

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- With their busiest work week of the offseason seemingly behind them, the A's appear to have little to do at the Winter Meetings.

But their general manager, who swung four separate deals in two days last week, could easily strike again. That's just the way Billy Beane works.

Depth abounds with the Major League roster he's created, and Beane could opt to dangle some of it here at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort, namely Brett Anderson. The southpaw, owed $8 million next year, is one of seven starters currently employed by the A's, and he could be on the move should the right package come Beane's way.

Whether he chooses to take part in a trade remains to be seen, but fans can expect to stay in the know either way.

MLB.com will have it covered, with all 30 beat reporters working the Swan & Dolphin from the moment executives start trickling in Sunday night through the Rule 5 Draft on Thursday morning. Readers can expect constant coverage, including significant rumors, impending signings and any breaking news.

Beane is scheduled to hold court with local reporters in a round of informal sessions in his suite Monday and Tuesday night, and assistant general manager David Forst will take over those duties Wednesday. Each night, readers will be offered a breakdown of these talks and what they mean for the club.

Manager Bob Melvin is also here and scheduled to greet media in a half-hour session Tuesday afternoon, with a compilation of his thoughts on his two-time defending American League West-champion club to follow.

Stay tuned for the latest coverage, and don't be afraid to get involved. Fans are encouraged to take part by filling the comments section at Athletics.com this week with their own suggestions for getting the club back to the postseason. Should Beane trade Anderson? If so, what should he get in return?
