A's 1B Barton Clears Waivers; Outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento


OAKLAND, Calif. - A's first baseman Daric Barton has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Sacramento, the team announced today.

Barton was designated for assignment on Thursday when the team acquired outfielder/first baseman Kyle Blanks from San Diego. Barton was on the A's Opening Day roster and was batting .158 with five RBI in 30 games with Oakland. He has spent parts of the last eight seasons with Oakland is a .247 career hitter in 551 games.
