News and Notes About the A's Upcoming Homestand

OAKLAND, Calif. - With the pennant race heating up and the A's in contention for their third-straight American League West title, the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros visit the O.co Coliseum for a six-game homestand beginning with a Labor Day matinee on Monday, Sept. 1 at 1:05 p.m.

The homestand begins with a Coco Crisp Replica Jersey giveaway, presented by Cache Creek Casino Resort, at Monday's series opener against Seattle. Cy Young candidate Felix Hernandez and MVP hopeful Robinson Cano lead a Mariners club that is vying for its first postseason berth in 13 years. After Monday's contest, the series wraps up with a Tuesday night game (7:05 p.m.) and Wednesday matinee (12:35 p.m.).

After a day off Thursday, the A's play host to Major League hits leader Jose Altuve and the Astros for a three-game weekend series, beginning Friday night at 7:05 p.m. At Saturday's 1:05 p.m. game, 10,000 fans will receive a Reusable Tote Bag, presented by MLB Network. The homestand concludes with a 1:05 p.m. "Salute to Service Sunday" matinee.

Gates will open at 11 a.m.-two hours before first pitch-for this special Labor Day matinee against the Mariners.

Reusable Tote Bag Giveaway, presented by MLB Network: At the A's vs. Astros game on Saturday, Sept. 6, 10,000 fans will receive an A's Reusable Tote Bag, presented by MLB Network.

Coach Bob Ladouceur First Pitch: Prior to the A's vs. Astros game on Saturday, Sept. 6, legendary De La Salle football coach Bob Ladouceur will throw out the ceremonial first pitch in honor of the release of "When the Game Stands Tall," the critically acclaimed motion picture about De La Salle football that was recently released in theaters nationwide

Community Relations

Take the Field with the A's: The Take the Field with the A's program gives youth baseball and softball teams the chance to live out their Major League dreams. On Sunday, Sept. 7, the Albany Little League Cubs get to run onto the field with the A's prior to the game, and each player also receives an autographed baseball and t-shirt, courtesy of Wells Fargo.

Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Auctions: During the games on Sept. 5-7, the MLBPAA will be at O.co Coliseum behind Section 217 to auction off memorabilia signed by Major League Baseball alumni. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the A's Community Fund.

A's Community Fund Silent Auctions: Every Saturday and Sunday home game (and other select dates), the A's Community Fund hosts a silent auction featuring signed and unsigned A's memorabilia as well as game-used items. The silent auctions are located in the A's fan center behind Section 120 and end with the last out in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Baseball Tomorrow Fund Check Presentation: The Oakland Babe Ruth Little League will receive a grant for $5,000 from the Baseball Tomorrow Fund to assist with the purchase of baseball equipment for the 2015 season.

Green Stampede Homework Club: At select games throughout the season, elementary school students will visit O.co Coliseum to receive help with their homework from tutors and aids. An A's player will visit and sign autographs for the students as a way to congratulate them for their hard work. After the students have finished their homework, they are able to sit in the stands and watch the game.
